Round 13

Round 12

Round 12 was the first of five disrupted by split rounds. Thankfully the last few games finished on the Saturday so all remaining games are clearly linked to Round 13.

MENINDEE v HODDLE STREET First vs Third – it wasn’t a barn burner – but it finished a nail biter as Jordan Sweet needed to outscore Zac Butters by 31 points for the Muddies to get home. But he didn’t. Knights won 118-116 and move to second on the ladder.

MACATTACK v CAPPER COUNTY The Mustangs are a shadow of their 2025-selves, however the competition refuses to go for the kill. This week for example, the Clangers decided to record their lowest score in MCAFL history. Mustangs won 112-87. The Premiers have now worked their way back to the top-six despite having a 109 average over the past nine weeks.

JEREMADRA v TULLAMARINE Game of the weekend that saw the FattRatts literally sneak the win in the last two minutes of the game as Bodhi Uhland ticked over to 91 (he needed 88) and Jeremadra got home 125-124. The result is typical for the poor old Injectors who have had teams average 124 against them in the past five games. Ironically, Kylie’s team endured the same bad luck from Rounds 1 to 9.

MOSSIMO v SYN CITY Clash of the form teams (3 straight wins vs 6). But it was all Mossimo, and the they were impressive, winning 126-106. The Meerkats move to equal fourth (with the Blues) and looking the goods to make the first finals appearance since 2023. Syn City are still the competition favourites despite losing the Josh Fraser Cup.

SHARK BAY v WEST FISHER This was a shocker. Shamblers won 107-101 and continue to benefit from others teams bad timing or brain farts. In this case, a Wildcats line-up error proved costly. A timely reminder to all that you should number your reserves 1-5, especially over the split rounds.

The outcome of most Round 13 games were determined fairly early so the focus of many has already shifted to Round 14 (…I know I did).

TULLAMARINE v MOSSIMO The Meerkats keep marching on. Fifth straight win to move into equal 2nd (4th overall). This one was over before Sunday as Finn Callaghan needed over 220 to get the Injectors level. It finished 117-102. Tullamarine have gone from a 4-2 start to the season to 4-9 and needing to win most (if not all) of their remaining five games to make the finals.

CAPPER COUNTY v JEREMADRA The only close game of the weekend. The Clangers are on track to be the first grand-finalist to wooden spooners since West Fisher 2017/2018. However they bounced back from an 87 last weekend (and a 98 average over the past month) to give the FattRatts a run for their money. Trailing 106-109 heading into Sunday, little Harvey Thomas couldn’t get them home. Jeremadra won 125-115.

HODDLE STREET v MACATTACK In Round 4 the Mustangs snuck home 112-111. This week they won again, only this time it was a belting. The 134-119 result means the Premiers have won three straight and now have a six point buffer on teams outside the finals. It was the Knights first loss in a month.

WEST FISHER v MENINDEE The Keep-kids-away-from-the-Catman Cup was a one sided affair with Muddies avenging their Round 4 loss by winning 122-104. With no Serong or Rankine, it seems the Wildcats have been wearing an all-white uniform for the past month. Four losses on the trot and an average of 104 in the past three games. Next game vs Tullamarine is huge.

SYN CITY v SHARK BAY Despite maintaining their ‘favourites’ tag, the Blues had been slumping over the past few weeks (119, 111, 106) but that ended with a 142-112 massacre of the Shamblers. For the triva buffs 142 is a league-high for 2026 and an equal club-high for Syn City.

Just five rounds to go – not many have an easy Run Home....
